Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a new European regulatory requirement to reduce fraud and make online payments more secure. To accept payments once SCA goes into effect, you will need to build additional authentication into your checkout flow. SCA requires authentication to use at least two of the following three elements.
SOMETHING THE CUSTOMER KNOWS(e.g., password or PIN)
SOMETHING THE CUSTOMER HAS(e.g., phone or hardware token)
SOMETHING THE CUSTOMER IS(e.g., fingerprint or face recognition)
On September 14, European regulation will mandatefor many online payments. When it goes into effect, a form of two-factor authentication will be required for many card payments. Unless you update your integration, your customers’ banks will decline many transactions.
